About

Alexander Nicolson, a Mobile, Alabama native, grew up loving trees and making things, and so woodworking  was a natural progression. After studying theater scenery design and art history at the University of Richmond, Alexander moved back to Mobile and apprenticed with Glenn DeGruy, a local furniture-maker, for six years. Drawing on DeGruy's 40+ years of experience and his own carpentry experience in the theater and critical eye for design, Alexander quickly learned to make fine furniture in his own right.  Building on this sound base of classical tradition, we at Nicolson Woodworks seeks to exceed our client's expectations in every way.

In his free time, he is an avid walker in the woods and vegetable gardener, as well as playing the banjo well and the fiddle badly.
